Hosting the workshop is Starr Lewis, who recently was appointed Commissioner for the associated

Office of Academic and Professional Development, Kentucky Department of Education .

Before becoming an associate commissioner, Starr served as director of branches and the Humanities

as Director of Writing Programs Kentucky. She also worked as a writing portfolio

Consultant Department of Education and as a regional resource teacher writing. Starr

background includes 17 years of experience teaching high school English and psychology in

Bullitt County, Kentucky. She has a degree in secondary education at the University of

Kentucky and Masters in Education from the University of Louisville .

Dewey Hensley teaches English at South Oldham High School in Crestwood, Kentucky, and has

was recently named a highly qualified teacher with the Kentucky Department of Education .

Before coming to South Oldham , Dewey taught English and served as head coach in basketball

Eminence High School. He also taught at Fairdale High School in Louisville. his other

professional activities include serving as Deputy Director of Writing Louisville

Project training for the Kentucky Association of School Administrators , and

serving as the leader of the table for the analysis of the portfolio and, at the request of the writer writing test

Kentucky Department of Education . Dewey BA English and philosophy takes

College and master's degree in English from the University of Louisville .
